The Illinois football team has been busy recruiting the state of Georgia over the last week.

One area of the field I am kind of worried about is the secondary. There isn’t a ton of depth to the Illini defensive backs, and this could mean a struggling pass defense in the near future. One player who could help solve this problem is Kani Walker.

Walker is a 6-foot-1, 186-pound cornerback from Douglas County High School and resides in Douglasville, Georgia. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 622 player in the class of 2021 and the No. 46 cornerback in the nation. He is also the No. 46 player in the state of Georgia.

The recruitment of Walker has blown up over the last few months. Illinois was one of his most recent offers, but he also has an offer from teams like Minnesota, Louisville and Georgia Tech, just to name a few. This kid is wanted, and hopefully, we can get in on his recruitment.

I believe the best attribute that Walker possesses is his vision. He has a great eye for the ball, and that is special for a high school player. I am not sure about his speed, but he has the ability to know where the ball is going, so this makes up for any lack of speed.

Walker has a nice big body too. Having someone with his size going up against bigger wide receivers would benefit the Illini greatly.

Honestly, I like this offer by the Illini. They need more defensive back depth, and Walker would fit the bill. He has everything I want in a cornerback. Let’s see how much noise we can make in the south.
