Illinois Basketball: 3 observations from the Illini win over Northwestern
3. Trent was sensational
Throughout the history of me watching the Illinois basketball program, I have had favorite players. I have said this before, but I will say it again. Trent Frazier might be my favorite player of all-time.
Frazier isn’t just a great basketball player. This kid brings a joy to the game that most people would love to bring to their everyday life. He gives off the vibes that when something goes wrong, on or off the court, that he has a positive attitude and will figure out what to do to fix the problem.
The attitude that Frazier brings to the court seems to rub off on the other players too. He is one of the glue guys on this team. On Saturday night, Frazier had to step back into a role he hasn’t had to be in for quite some time. He had to be the No. 1 man.
Frazier was a huge reason we beat Northwestern. This was his best game of the season as he went for 16 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the field and 4-of-7 from three-point range. He also peppered in 5 rebounds and 3 assists.
During the game, Frazier became the 50th player in the history of the Illinois basketball program to hit the 1,000-point mark as well. This is a huge accomplishment, and he did it quicker than a lot of former great players.
Frazier continues to display greatness on and off the court every day. I am thankful this kid is on our team. He is a huge piece of this puzzle.
