The Illinois basketball team beat Purdue 63-37, which is a confidence booster for the team as they played some inspired basketball against the Boilermakers

This Illini team played together as a unit in the win against Purdue. The offense for Illinois was rolling, as they shot 36-percent from three-point range and 45-percent from the field.

On the defensive end of the court, Illinois played hard too. They had 5 steals and 4 blocks as a team, and they also caused Purdue to miss shots. The Boilermakers shot 17-percent from the three-point arc and 25-percent from the field.

Illinois played great and the most valuable player could go to quite a few players, but the MVP of the game against Purdue has to go to Alan Griffin.

Griffin finished the game with 16 points, 12 rebounds, 2 blocks and 1 assist. He also shot 6-of-8 from the field and 2-of-4 from deep. Griffin had a big impact off the bench as he provided hustle, solid defense and great offense when he was on the floor. The offensive spark he provided included six offensive rebounds, and he did a good job moving and trying to create without the ball.

This is impressive as the MVP could’ve gone to Trent Frazier or Kofi Cockburn, but Griffin got it because he provided life and energy early to this Illinois team against the Boilermakers.

Next. Figuring out the Illini logic behind not starting Alan Griffin. dark

This game is not only a huge confidence booster for Griffin but a huge confidence booster for the whole Illinois team as they face off against Wisconsin on Wednesday.
