I am extremely nervous to see how the class of 2020 turns out for the Illinois football program.

Illinois currently sits with 12 commitments for the class of 2020. The highest-rated player is in-state commit, Jadon Thompson. He is a four-star recruit who is the No. 351 player in the class of 2020. There are six players who are ranked in the top 1000 and most of our commitments are knocking on the door of the top 1000.

But the Illinois class of 2020 isn’t nearly complete. There are still scholarships to be had and players to commit. The next 24-48 hours are going to be huge for the class of 2020. It is going to be huge for the future of the program as well.

We missed out on a few big fish on Monday. Antonio Doyle Jr. would have been a great addition, but Texas A&M sadly beat us out for the kid. They have a longer streak of winning and a coach who has won a national title in the last 10 years. So, I completely understand why he would pick the Aggies.

But Illinois has a few key targets left on the board. We need to close these targets and continue building the program.

Here are the top five targets left for the Illini in the class of 2020.
