We have all seen the potential of the Illinois football defensive line this season. They can cause some chaos.
I want to keep that intensity on the defensive line. We will lose a few players over the next couple of years, but we have solid replacements to fill those roles. But who will replace the backups once they become starters? Someone like Victoine Brown could help solve that problem.
Brown is a 6-foot-4, 225-pound strong-side defensive end from Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 568 player in the class of 2021 and the No. 35 strong-side defensive end in the nation. He is also the No. 44 player in the state of Georgia.
The offers have already started to pile up for Brown. He has roughly 12 scholarship offers right now with some of the bigger offers being from Florida, Tennessee and North Carolina. But Illinois is now in the mix so, hopefully, we can make some waves.
Brown is a fun player to watch on the football field. He brings so many different things to the table that would be assets at the next level. His size is one of those attributes. The fact he is only a junior and stands at 6-foot-4 and weighs 225-pounds is exciting. His ability to move well is incredible. The agility he brings will help any team in the country.
I also wanted to point out the speed and maturity Brown brings to the table. He is quick off the line, but he can also read the ball. He doesnβt just go full speed all the time. He can read whether the play is a reverse, screen or a run. This kid has a great mind to go with his physical abilities.
Illinois needs to continue building depth at defensive end. Having a player like Brown come into the program would help with those depth concerns. He would be a great pickup for the class of 2021.
