Illinois Football: Myles Jackson keeps Illini in top 4
The Illinois football team moved one step closer to landing another talented player for the future.
On Monday night, Myles Jackson decided to cut his list down to just four programs. He ended up keeping Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, UCLA and Illinois on his shortlist. These four teams will now be vying for this talented defensive player.
Jackson is a 6-foot-2, 230-pound inside linebacker from Mill Creek High School in Hoschton, Georgia. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 1176 player in the class of 2020 and the No. 52 inside linebacker in the nation. He is also the No. 107 player in the state of Georgia.
Most people thought Jackson’s recruitment was finished back in June when he took an unofficial visit to UCLA and then committed to the Bruins the same day. On September 15, everything changed. Jackson reopened his recruitment. This gave the Illini, among others, a chance at landing this skilled linebacker.
It looks like two official visits have been set up for Jackson. He just finished up his first official visit to Virginia Tech this past weekend. The next official visit will be to UCLA on November 2. They still aren’t out of the running yet. Jackson was able to confirm that the other two official visits have yet to be setup.
Illinois seems to have a plan for Jackson and what they want to do with him at the college level. Back in September, the Writing Illini had a chance to chat with Jackson about his recruitment and the Illini pursuing him. He mentioned that Illinois sees him as a rush end.
I think Lovie Smith would have some fun with Jackson. He could slot him into a defensive end position, but Jackson is athletic enough to be able to drop back in coverage. Whatever Illinois would need him to be, Jackson could fill that role. He would be such an asset to have on the football field.
Illinois is now in the top four for a solid player who could help this program. Jackson is a wanted recruit. Hopefully, we can land him and continue building up the defense.
