No. 3 Guard/Forward

Starter: Tevian Jones

Much like Alan Griffin, I am curious to see how Tevian Jones develops his game over the next few seasons. He played just about as much as Griffin last season, but I think Jones showed me enough to the point I think he will be a starter in the next two years.

Jones only saw 9.2 minutes per game last season, which was extremely frustrating. I think this kid has so much talent. He averaged 3.5 points and 1.4 rebounds per game in that time too. He hit 90.9-percent of his free throws when he got to the charity stripe, and he made over 40-percent of his shots. Overall, I think Jones’ needle is pointing up. He has the ability to be a nightmare for teams moving forward.

Backup: Jacob Grandison

Another offseason addition for the Illini who will help this team in the future is Jacob Grandison. He is a player who spent two seasons with Holy Cross and excelled with the Crusaders. His presence on this Illini team will win games. He provides great depth at the No. 3 spot.

While with Holy Cross, Grandison averaged 13.9 points, 5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.1 steals in the 34.6 minutes of action in each game. Those are solid numbers that I hope he brings with him. I think he would fit nicely right behind Jones in the starting lineup.
