Offensive Line

Starter LT: Vederian Lowe

The Illinois offensive line that was projected before the Akron game was actually the offensive line that started the game. Vederian Lowe was the Illini left tackle.

Lowe has been a main staple in this Illinois offensive line for the last few years. He has great size and experience. He will be a starter for this Illini program until he graduates. That is a comfortable though.

Starter LG: Kendrick Green

Kendrick Green was still slotted in at the left guard role for the Illini. Illinois needs to make sure they have players who can protect Brandon Peters and block for Reggie Corbin. That is what they have with Green.

Green’s ability to not only pass block but to also pull is starting to gain notoriety. This kid is becoming a big-time offensive lineman. Don’t be surprised if he is in the running for some national awards at the end of the season.

Starter C: Doug Kramer

The rock of this offensive line and someone who is going to continue seeing starts until he graduates is Doug Kramer.

Kramer was sensational, once again, against Akron. He was able to keep Peters on his feet and the Illini offense worked well. He has a great grasp on what it takes to win games.

Starter RG: Richie Petitbon

The first game wearing the Orange and Blue for Richie Petitbon went well. He got the nod at right guard for the Illini and did exactly what was expected of him.

Illinois was able to land Petitbon via the graduate transfer route. The fact he could come in and start day one is impressive. I fully expect him to start every game this season.

Starter RT: Alex Palczewski

The fifth member of this great Illini offensive line is Alex Palczewski. He had a solid game against Akron and was one of the reasons this offense worked so well.

Palczewski continues to impress on the football field. I expect him to start every game this season for the Illini. This will be a great year if we can keep all of these offensive linemen healthy.

Backups: Jordyn Slaughter, Julian Pearl, Verdis Brown, Jake Stover, Kurt Gavin
