The Illinois football team is now 1-0 heading into another confidence-boosting game against UConn.

UConn isn’t a good football team, so the Illini must win this game if we want any hope at making the postseason. There are some adjustments to this weeks projected depth chart due to injuries and suspensions.

Here is the projected Illini depth chart against UConn.

Quarterback

Starter: Brandon Peters

It is needless to say, but Brandon Peters is entering the game against UConn as the starting quarterback for the Illini. He came out in game one and showed the nation why he was such a coveted passer coming out of high school.

Peters ended up throwing for 163 yards and 3 touchdowns against Akron. He was 14-of-23 through the air as well. His running ability is what caught me off guard. He was able to scramble for 36 yards and 1 touchdown. Overall, Peters has been a great addition to this program. He is a big-time leader on this team.

Backup: Matt Robinson

I wasn’t sure who was going to be the backup quarterback for the Orange and Blue this season. Freshman Isaiah Williams had a lot of notoriety coming into the program. But the backup to Peters against Akron was Matt Robinson.

Robinson filled in for Peters during garbage time. He only went 1-of-2 for 31 yards on the day, but it was nice to see what the coaching staff wants to do at the backup role. I would assume Williams is going to take a redshirt the entire year. This would make the most sense at this point.
