Illinois Football: Illini come in with offer to Trinity Bell
While the Illinois football team prepares for the regular season, it looks like they are also continuing to try to build for the future.
On Thursday afternoon, Trinity Bell announced via his Twitter page that he has received an offer from the University of Illinois. Some people might be thrown off by this offer from the football team because the only profile you find on Bell is as a basketball player. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 181 player in the class of 2021 and the No. 23 center in the nation. That isn’t bad on the basketball side.
The Illinois football offer to Bell fascinates me. I deducted that the football program is the one who offered him the scholarship because in his offer tweet, he tagged Illinois defensive line coach Austin Clark. That means the Illini are recruiting this kid for the defensive line.
Something tells me Bell is going to be ranked in the top 1000 when his class is finished up. This kid is a beast on both sides of the ball. It is fun to watch him play football. There are just little slivers of him on the actual field, but those clips show you that this kid could be something special eventually.
The size of 6-foot-7, 250-pounds is ridiculous. That is like if you threw Rob Gronkowski out there at the high school level. It just isn’t fair. He is bigger, faster and stronger than anyone and it shows. He is able to plow over the offensive line and get to the ball carrier. His ability to catch the ball is fascinating as well. If he can turn into a two-way player and suit up at tight end, the Illini could be extremely dangerous.
I added the small clips of Bell to this article. He is a beast of a player and someone I would love to see wearing an Illinois uniform. Keep an eye on his recruitment over the next couple of years.
