The 1950s produced a lot of talented players. Some of the legends of college football came from this time. Al Brosky can be considered a great overall college football player and one of the best to come through the Illinois secondary.

Brosky came into the Illinois program and started playing in 1950. His great play over the next three years would help etch his name into the Illini record books for as long as the program is around. When his career was all said and done, Brosky ranked No. 1 all time in career interceptions with 30. That is 11 interceptions clear of No. 2 on the list.

Incredibly enough, Brosky leads the Illini in single-season interceptions with 11. He did that twice, so he ranks No. 1 and No. 2 on this list. He had 8 interceptions in 1952, so he claims the No. 6 spot as well. Not only did he rack up the stats, but he was also a big player on a great Illini team.

Brosky was one of the best players on the Illini defense that won the Big Ten and National Title back in 1951. He was a two-time consensus First-Team All-American in 1951 and 1952. This guy was a legend in every form of the word. It is hard to find a better defensive back in the history of the program than Brosky. He was one of the best to ever live.
