The Illinois basketball team missed out on Nimari Burnett today for the class of 2020.

Burnett had Illinois on his top list just a few months ago but decided to cut his list down to just five teams on Monday afternoon. The five teams that made the top list for Burnett were Alabama, Louisville, Michigan, Texas Tech and Oregon.

Honestly, I was a little surprised Illinois didn’t make the cut here. There were a few teams who already had official visits scheduled with Burnett, but I felt the Illini were in a position of at least getting an official visit. I was wrong, though, and now we have to regroup and see what is still available in the recruiting market.

Illinois, obviously, needs guard play moving forward. Ayo Dosunmu and Andres Feliz will both likely be gone after this season. Trent Frazier, depending on the season he has, could be gone as well. At best, he is gone after next season, though. That means almost the entire Illinois backcourt we have today won’t be here after the 2020-2021 campaign.

So, since we need guard play, I wanted to take a look at some options. Here are five guard options for 2020 after missing out on Nimari Burnett.
