May I have your attention please; the Illinois football team has quality depth at most positions for the upcoming 2019 campaign.

That is something I haven’t truly been able to say in a long time. We haven’t had the quality depth at the majority of positions on this team for a half-decade or so. But that is all changing as the Illini have players who can redshirt their freshman season and not have to get thrown into the fire. They also have players who are ready to take the next step in their careers.

With so much talent on the roster, this leaves room for players to be overlooked who could help the team win games in 2019. These players are who I call sleepers. Sleepers won’t get the majority of starts, most likely, but have the talent to come in and, potentially, change a game with a big play or two.

I believe Illinois has sleeper players on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Lovie Smith and the Illini coaching staff have done a great job finding these talented players throughout the country and bringing them to Champaign. They will impact this team this season and for years to come.

Here are five sleepers for the Illini in 2019.
