There are quite a few recruits left for the class of 2020, and the Illinois basketball team seems to be in the mix for a multitude of talented players.

The Illini are targeting a wide range of recruits for this class. Some of the talented players are low-level, sub-100, recruits who don’t have a ton of respect in the recruiting world but could still be under-the-radar and help the team in the future. These players are always great to target because they are looked over and have a chip on their shoulder.

Illinois has targeted a few of the traditional big-time recruits as well. There are players inside the top 50, high-level recruits, who are program-changers. Usually, these recruits last one or two years nowadays, but you never know. Dee Brown ended up playing at Illinois all four years and he was a five-star.

And then there are the mid-level recruits who are ranked somewhere between 50-100 in the nation. Traditionally, this is Illinois’ sweet spot when it comes to recruiting. I would venture to say the Illini have landed more recruits at mid-level than they have any other area. But this level also produces talented players like Malcolm Hill.

Here are four mid-level Illini recruiting targets for 2020.
