4. Jay Wilkerson

The final two players on this wishlist are from the Lone Star State. Jay Wilkerson is first up. Illinois needs players who Isaiah Williams can throw the ball to and that is why we need someone like Wilkerson on the outside.

Wilkerson is a talented wide receiver who has a lot of recruiting attention right now. He has roughly 15 scholarship offers with the main focuses being SMU, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Illinois. The Illini are a serious contender in the race for this kid.

I would love to add Wilkerson to the Illini roster. He is a 6-foot-0.5, 157-pound wide receiver from Heritage High school in Midlothian, Texas. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 609 player in the class of 2020 and the No. 111 wide receiver in the nation. He is also the No. 84 player in the state of Texas.

I believe Wilkerson has only been on one official visit so far and that was to SMU. I assume Illinois will get one eventually too. He seemed to have liked the program when he was up there for an unofficial visit. He thought Coach Andrew Hayes-Stoker was great, and he also loved the facilities.

It is going to be interesting to see if the Illini can pull another talented athlete from the state of Texas. They have been successfully accomplishing this goal so far. Let’s see if we can get another.
