3. Kevin Tyler

You don’t have much of a team without a good offensive line. Illinois needs to build solid depth for this area of the field or they could struggle mightily in the future. Kevin Tyler is a needed player and that is why he is on my wishlist.

St. Louis has been a great recruiting area for the Orange and Blue the last few classes. Tyler would add to that recruiting hotbed if he decided to come to Champaign. He would also get some early snaps and would be a starter in the first couple of years of being with the Illini.

Tyler is a 6-foot-5, 295-pound offensive tackle from Ritenour High School in St. Louis, Missouri. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 816 player in the class of 2020 and the No. 69 offensive tackle in the nation. He is also the No. 16 player in the state of Missouri as well.

On June 25, Tyler cut his list down to just 10 teams and kept Memphis, Kansas, Kansas State, Syracuse, Indiana, Purdue, SMU, Minnesota, Iowa State and Illinois alive for his commitment. Tyler’s most recent visit of any kind was to Illinois back in April. He continues to pile up the scholarship offers too.

I think Illinois has the lead here, but Minnesota, Purdue and Iowa State scare me when it comes to Tyler’s recruitment. These three seem to be a thorn in the Illini’s side. I think we will win out, but those three programs are right there as well.
