Illinois Basketball: Illini targets in the new 247Sports class of 2021 rankings

While the class of 2021 is still a ways away, it is probably good to start looking at what talent the Illinois basketball team has to choose from.

At this point in the recruiting game, it is hard to predict where each player is going to commit. The recruits for the class of 2021 still have two years of high school basketball remaining and another year of summer AAU ball as well. That is a lot of time to improve and earn even more scholarships.

But 247Sports updated their class of 2021 rankings on Tuesday. These rankings feature the top talent in the nation, which includes some of the Illini targets. These players would be able to help continue the building process of the Illinois basketball program back to where it was just a few decades ago.

Some of the talented players on this list seem to have a mutual interest in the Illini for one reason or another. That reason could be location and the ability to play basketball for their state institution. Another reason could be the connection with family that currently attends the University of Illinois. There are various reasons why these players seem to like Champaign.
