5. Willis Singleton Jr.

Much like the middle of the offensive line, the defensive line is a worry of mine for the future as well. Over the next two years, graduation is going to kill this Illini front line. Getting replacements for the defensive tackle position is necessary. Willis Singleton Jr. could be the next defensive tackle to commit to the Illini.

Singleton is a 6-foot-1, 301-pound defensive tackle from Warren Township High School in Gurnee, Illinois. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 1125 player in the class of 2020 and the No. 83 defensive tackle in the nation. He is also the No. 20 player in the state of Illinois as well.

The big indicator that Illinois has a chance to land this kid soon is the fact he cut his list down to just four teams back on May 13. The four programs who made the cut included Iowa State, Louisville, Cincinnati and Illinois.

247Sports has Iowa State and Michigan State as the leader for this kid right now. Back on April 13 is when Illinois extended an offer to Singleton. He came to Champaign for a visit that day. Since then, Michigan State has come in with an offer but there isn’t a visit to East Lansing yet. Singleton has also been back up to Champaign on June 7 and went on a visit to Iowa State on June 21.

I think it is clear that Singleton likes the Illini. He keeps visiting the program. I would bet it is only a matter of time before he picks the Orange and Blue. We could really use him in the near future.
