3. James Frenchie

There are some recruits who are quiet about what is going on with their recruitment. James Frenchie seems to be laying low on what is going on with his decision, but I think the Illini seem to be in the driver’s seat here as well.

Frenchie is a 5-foot-9, 175-pound wide receiver from Trinity Catholic High School in St. Louis, Missouri. He is rated as a four-star recruit who is the No. 288 player in the class of 2020 and the No. 51 wide receiver in the nation. He is also the No. 5 player in the state of Missouri.

There hasn’t been much recruiting activity reported on Frenchie in a while. Over the last five months, he has been on two unofficial visits to Champaign, which shows me he has a strong interest in the program. He also has his former quarterback, Isaiah Williams, coming to play quarterback for the Illini as well.

On a lesser level, Frenchie also seems to retweet a decent amount of Illinois things on his Twitter feed. This isn’t usually a huge indicator of things, but it does help add another layer. Let’s also not forget need too. Frenchie would be a great piece to add to a wide receiver corps that is going to be pretty bare come 2021. While there are a few handfuls of other teams looking at Frenchie, I think he ends up with the Orange and Blue soon.
