2. Finnigan Schirmer

When it comes to under-the-radar players and finding the diamond in the rough, the Illinois football team seems to be one of the best in the country. I think Finnigan Schirmer could pledge his commitment next and would fit into this category.

Schirmer is a 6-foot-1, 200-pound outside linebacker from Marengo High School in Marengo, Illinois. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 1935 player in the class of 2020 and the No. 129 outside linebacker in the nation. He is also the No. 36 player in the state of Illinois as well.

On May 8, Schirmer received his first scholarship offer for football to Eastern Illinois. The next offer, and the most recent one, came from the Illini on June 20. No one else has come in with an offer yet, which blows my mind. This kid is a great athlete who could do some damage on the football field.

Schirmer made it to the state championships this year in track and field. He won the state championship in the 110-Meter High Hurdles, 100-Meter Dash and the 300-Meter Intermediate Hurdles. He also got fourth in the 200-Meter Dash. This kid has some speed.

Considering Illinois is Schirmer’s only power five conference scholarship right now and he has taken a visit to Champaign already, I would assume we are going to be the landing spot for this underrated recruit.
