The state of Indiana has some talent, but the Illinois basketball team hasn’t been great at plucking kids out of this basketball-rich area.

I believe Jalen Coleman-Lands was the last player to suit up for the Illini from the Hoosier State. He was from the Indianapolis area but went up to northwest Indiana and played high school basketball at La Lumiere. But developing a pipeline to the state of Indiana wouldn’t be a bad idea. Luke Goode could be a good start.

Goode is a 6-foot-5, 175-pound shooting guard from Homestead High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He is rated as a four-star recruit and is the No. 70 player in the class of 2021 and the No. 14 shooting guard in the nation. He is also the No. 4 player in the state of Indiana as well.

Obviously, Goode is starting to rack up the scholarship offers. In addition to the Illini offer he received a little over a week ago, Goode has also pulled in offers from teams like Stanford, Iowa, Butler and Xavier. Oddly enough, Indiana has yet to come in with an offer to this talented top 100 kid, though.

When I watch what Goode can do on the floor, I take away two main attributes. The first attribute this kid brings to the floor is his defense. He is a lockdown No. 2 guard who could cause headaches for opposing teams. That is always something that is needed for Brad Underwood.

The second attribute that stuck out to me is Goode’s ability to shoot the ball. He can get his own shot. He doesn’t have to come off screens or have a play drawn up. This kid can have someone in his face and then stick one in their eye.

I love this offer by the Illini. Goode brings a lot to the basketball court. Illinois is starting to build some nice depth in the paint, but now we need to get some solid guards. Goode would be a perfect fit for the Orange and Blue.
