The Illinois football offense just got a lot better with the addition of Michigan transfer Brandon Peters.

Peters announced via Instagram on Tuesday night that he has decided to commit to playing for the Illini. He will have two years of eligibility remaining at the college level as well. This pickup for the Orange and Blue is one of the biggest we have seen in years.

I believe the quarterback situation was going to be fine without Peters. We would have had a competition of about three different options for the Illini with the eventual winner likely to be incoming freshman, Isaiah Williams. That isn’t the case anymore. Things have changed with the addition of Peters.

This isn’t the first offseason transfer the Illini have received either. Peters will have some big-time options on the outside. Illinois has received two USC graduate transfers in Josh Imatorbhebhe and Trevon Sidney who will both be eligible immediately. Those are two great options.

Illinois also had Oluwole Betiku transfer in from USC as well. He should be a great defensive end option for the Orange and Blue this season. Honestly, this may be the best offseason I have ever seen the program have since I was born back in 1990. The Illini are going to be really good this season.

Here is the projected Illini quarterback depth chart with Brandon Peters.
