Quarterback

Isaiah Williams (4-Star – #116 in Class of 2019)

The addition of Isaiah Williams to the Illinois program is going to do wonders in multiple ways. First and foremost, he joining the team will give the Illini the best quarterback they have had since, at least, Nathan Scheelhaase.

Williams is coming into the 2019 season as a four-star recruit who is the No. 116 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 6 athlete in the nation. He is also the No. 2 player in the state of Missouri as well.

Illinois seems to be pushing hard for Williams not to play this upcoming season. I assume they want to redshirt him and let him get the feel of the college game before unleashing him on the Big Ten. The reason I feel this way is that the Illini continue to pursue graduate transfer quarterbacks. That means they want someone who can come in and start from day one.

Getting a graduate transfer quarterback wouldn’t be a bad idea. He could come in and let Williams get some time to get the playbook down. But, in 2020, he is going to be the starter in Champaign and the Illini are going to win some big games because of his talent behind center.
