I will be curious to see what happens with the Houston Rockets this offseason. There have been reports released saying everyone except for James Harden has a chance to be traded. This might be a great landing spot for Ayo Dosunmu.

The No. 1 guards on the Rockets right now are James Harden and Chris Paul. Paul hasn’t been himself for the last few years. He has dealt with injuries and just turned 34 years old a month ago. He might end up being traded away, but it could be hard to find a trade partner with Paul being signed through the 2020-21 season.

Let’s say Harden and Paul finish out their contracts with the Rockets. They both have two years let which would put Paul at 36 years old and Harden at 32 years old when their contracts are up. The 2020 NBA Draft would be a perfect time to select a No. 1 guard who could take over the franchise and help with a youth movement.

I would assume the Rockets are going to take a bit of a dip this upcoming season. That would probably put them somewhere in the 15-22 range when it comes to a first-round draft pick. That would be a little lower than where I think Ayo would be selected.

But, if the Rockets do have a pick and can select Ayo, he would be a great choice. I think Ayo would come in and learn the Mike D’Antoni system. He would then get a chance to start getting some serious minutes with the franchise. He would be a good option for the Rockets to start a youth movement.
