DeSoto High School continues to be a main target for the Illinois football team.

Building relationships with the big-time programs down in the state of Texas has done wonders for the Illini recruiting classes. We have been able to snag some great players from the Lone Star State. Illinois is now targeting DeSoto for the near future.

One of the more recent targets for the Illini came in the form of quarterback, Samari Collier. He transferred into the program in the offseason and will be finishing up his final two years with the program. He will be throwing to another recent Illinois offer, Jaedon Wilson.

Wilson is a 6-foot-1, 160-pound wide receiver from DeSoto High School in DeSoto, Texas. He isn’t ranked or rated by the recruiting sites, but he is starting to rack up some nice offers from teams around the country. In addition to the Illini offer, Wilson has also received offers from teams like Utah, Missouri and Kansas. This kid’s stock is only going to rise as well.

The height Wilson brings to the table is nice. I assume he is going to grow another inch or two before he is done in high school. That means we are likely to see a 6-foot-2 or 6-foot-3 player coming into the college ranks. That size is hard to find.

I love the speed and strength Wilson has as well. Usually, players like Wilson can either just burn the defender or he gets checked at the line and they are done for the play. Wilson can use his strength to get around the press coverage, and he is gone for a touchdown. His presence on the field is impressive.

Illinois could always use more pass-catching help. If you are an Illini fan, you should keep an eye out for DeSoto High School the next few seasons. This could be a developing hotbed for Illinois recruiting.
