The Illinois basketball team extended another scholarship offer on Monday.

Addressing the No. 1 guard role on the team is important right now. Illinois needs to recruit more players for this role or we could be left out to dry. There are some big changes coming to this program in a year, and we need to be ready. That is why recruiting someone like KK Robinson is a great idea.

Robinson is a 6-foot, 175-pound point guard from Bryant High School in Bryant, Arkansas. He isn’t getting any love from the recruiting sites as 247Sports doesn’t have him ranked or rated. But Robinson is starting to bring in the scholarship offers.

In addition to the Illinois offer he received on Monday, Robinson also has offers from teams like TCU, Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech. He has solid recruiting attention and the Illini are involved. I like what this kid can bring to the floor as well.

Robinson has a lot of energy to his game. He can run the floor well and he hustles. He is someone who his teammates could rally around. I also like his ability to shoot the ball as well. He has a nice shot from deep. Honestly, he reminds me of Trent Frazier when he was coming out of high school.

Pro Skills of the Nike EYBL is the AAU team Robinson suits up for. He has done a great job this season getting Pro Kills to a competitive level. They are 9-4 and he is one of their leading scorers. He has averaged 17.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. He is also shooting 41.2-percent from the field and 43.9-percent from three-point range.

If you watch this kid and then look at his numbers in the EYBL, you wonder how in the world this kid isn’t ranked or rated by recruiting sites. Robinson has the potential to be a really good player at the next level. He has mid-to-high DI potential written all over him. Let’s hope he picks the Orange and Blue.
