There are a lot of underrated recruits still left for the Illinois football program to snag for the class of 2020.

Recruiting sites can’t handle every recruit who decides to play football in college. There are so many great athletes out there, so some are bound to get lost in the mix. One up-and-coming recruit that is starting to pop onto the radar of teams is Joshua Pierre-Louis.

Pierre-Louis is a 5-foot-9, 165-pound cornerback from The Benjamin School in North Palm Beach, Florida. He isn’t rated or ranked by 247Sports, and I can’t even find a profile on him with Rivals. But he is starting to bring in the scholarship offers, so there has to be some talent there.

On Tuesday, Pierre-Louis announced on Twitter that he had received an offer from the University of Illinois. This was his most recent offer, but he has a handful of others throughout the last few months as well. In addition to Illinois, some of the other offers include the likes of Marshall, UConn, Kent State, Auburn and North Carolina State. That is a pretty solid group interested in this underrated recruit.

Honestly, I can’t tell you why Pierre-Louis wasn’t being recruited earlier. The only thing I can think of is his height, maybe? But that would be a dumb reason to not have big-time programs coming after him. This kid has everything I want in a player.

I can tell you right now, offensive coordinator Rod Smith is going to have a heyday with Pierre-Louis. There is no way this kid is playing on defense. I think we are going to use him more as a dual-threat running back. I am thinking something like Tarik Cohen of the Chicago Bears. Pierre-Louis has the speed and agility to be extremely dangerous on offense.

Illinois got in on the Pierre-Louis recruitment, and this is extremely smart. I think he would fit well with what we are doing on offense. This is would a great player to win for 2020.
