No. 2 Guard

Starter – Trent Frazier

The starting No. 2 guard for the Illini this upcoming season should be Trent Frazier. He bleeds Orange and Blue and is one of my favorite players of all-time. This kid has a great shot and should be a dynamic player entering his junior campaign.

Frazier’s stats show that he had a great season last year, but when you watched him it seemed like something was off. He still put up 13.7 points, 2.6 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 40.6-percent from three-point range. He is a deep threat and someone who will give the Illini team energy moving forward.

Backup – Alan Griffin

One of the players that I am looking forward to seeing progress while at Illinois is guard Alan Griffin. This kid has all the talent in the world and showed flashes of it throughout the season. But he is going to need to play more this upcoming year if the Illini want to win more games.

Griffin finished last season only playing 8.1 minutes per game. During that time, he averaged 2.8 points and 1.6 rebounds per game. He was only 30.4-percent from three-point range as well. But I believe he has a great shot. I think if he gets more in a groove and can play extended minutes his game will truly shine. I have him as the primary back up to Frazier to start the year.
