More transfer news regarding the Illinois basketball team and potential additions to the squad were released on Wednesday morning.

Jeff Goodman of Stadium reported that William & Mary graduate transfer Matt Milon is considering Illinois as a possible landing spot. Milon has already visited with Virginia Tech and Charlotte and is visiting Central Florida today.

Coming out of high school, Milon was a 6-foot-4, 180-pound shooting guard from Oviedo High School in Oviedo, Florida. He was rated as a three-star recruit who was the No. 259 player in the class of 2015 and the No. 63 shooting guard in the nation. He was also the No. 32 player in the state of Florida as well.

There was some serious recruiting attention for Milon. He had offers from solid teams like Creighton, Florida State and Purdue. But he ended up picking Boston College. He spent one season with the Eagles where he put up 5.4 points while shooting 49.4-percent from three-point range.

Milon transferred away from Boston College at the end of his freshman season, though. He decided to pick William & Mary as the landing spot to restart his career. After sitting out a season due to NCAA rules, Milon had a pretty good two years with William & Mary. He averaged 13 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game while shooting 42.8-percent from three-point range in his first season. He followed that up with 13 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists while shooting 40.1-percent last year.

The shooting is what stands out about Milon. He seems to be pretty good from long range and could help a team when they need some points. I understand why Illinois would be going after a player like Milon. Three-point shooting is always something we are looking for.

Brad Underwood and the Illinois coaching staff have done their work when it comes to graduate transfers. My only concern is the scholarship count. Either we can’t add players or the coaching staff knows there could be a transfer coming. I guess we will find out either way.
