The Illinois basketball team ended their regular season off in a bad way on Sunday afternoon.

This loss to Penn State really put a bad taste in my mouth. At one point, the team won four games in a row and had a record of 10-15. There was a legit chance we could finish the season strong and, maybe, get to above .500 this year. That went out the window as quickly as it came in. Illinois dropped five out of their last six games to finish the regular season 11-20.

I really like all of the players on this team, despite having a horrific record and losing a school record amount of games. The players who will be departing are going to be missed. Aaron Jordan is the most dedicated Illini player I have ever seen. His three-point shooting was solid. He was extremely likable. I also saw some good in Adonis De La Rosa too. You could tell he wasn’t right for most of the season, but he had some bright moments. Both players will be missed.

Illinois has a little roster shifting to do heading into next season. There are a few new faces coming in and it is time to start playing some of the talent from the class of 2018. Overall, I am excited about the future of this program.

Here is the Illini projected starting lineup for next season.
