2. We didn’t have an answer for the Hoosiers

Like I said in the previous slide, this was a pretty ugly game from the start. At the end of the first half, Indiana had 52 points and was well on their way to their final score of 92 points. The Illini didn’t have an answer for this Hoosiers program.

When it comes to Indiana’s guard play, they were able to do pretty much anything they wanted. Robert Phinisee was able to get to the rim on command. He burnt by our guards like they were nothing and scored at-will. Devonte Green was left wide open many times from three-point land. For some reason, we were lazy when rotating.

Justin Smith and Romeo Langford were able to do whatever they wanted the entire night too. They could get wide open looks at the basketball, and it seemed like Illinois had no idea what to do. Their reaction was puzzling to me. Juwan Morgan was a beast in the paint too. He couldn’t be stopped by the Illini big men.

The defensive display Illinois put on Thursday night was absolutely embarrassing. They were the butter and Indiana was the hot knife. This was an ugly game and one that will go down in my books as a top five worse performance in Underwood’s tenure.
