Getting in on some big-time recruits for the class of 2021 is probably a good idea for the Illinois football team.
Developing relationships with these talented high school athletes early on in their careers is important. That is why I like the offer to Hassan Borders. He announced via Twitter on Monday that he had received a scholarship offer from the University of Illinois.
It is hard to find much on Borders because he is from the class of 2021 and most recruiting sites don’t have players extensively graded that far out. But, Max Preps does have some type of grade for Borders. They have him as the No. 207 player in the class of 2021 and the No. 17 player in the state of Georgia. If this holds true, he is likely to be a four-star recruit when it comes time to commit.
In the tweet by Borders, he said Illinois offered him a scholarship as an athlete. Well, his 6-foot-4, 228-pound size tells me he is likely to be a wide receiver in my books. He also is listed as a linebacker, but Illinois needs more pass-catching help right now.

After watching what Borders can do on the football field, it is apparent to me that the kid can play multiple positions. It looks like outside linebacker was his main role. With his size, I would imagine, if he plays defense at the next level, he would still play outside linebacker. He would be a nice piece to move around the field and cause different matchups for the offensive line. This would give the opposing teams headaches.
Next. 5 observations from the Illini win over Northwestern. dark
Honestly, I still like Borders as a wide receiver because of the great size. This kid could do some work on the outside with the quarterback play we have coming in. Adding him would give some playmaking ability to a position that desperately needs it.
