Players that can play multiple positions are what Lovie Smith and the Illinois football team have looked for when it comes to recruiting.

There are so many players on the current Illini roster that have played multiple positions on the team since coming to Champaign. Tony Adams played cornerback and safety, Kendrick Green played offensive and defensive line and Marquez Beason is coming in and, potentially, playing cornerback and wide receiver or punt returner. Getting dynamic players are important and that is why I like the offer to Jevaun Jacobsen.

Jacobsen is a 6-foot-1, 210-pound athlete from Clearwater Academy International in Clearwater, Florida. He is rated as a two-star recruit who is the No. 1459 player in the class of 2020 and the No. 131 athlete in the nation. He is also the No. 132 player in the state of Florida as well.

Honestly, I don’t think 247Sports rankings for the class of 2020 are even close to being set yet. A player who is ranked in the top 2000 is usually a three-star recruit. I am not sure these rankings are even accurate. Also, if Illinois is offering Jacobsen a scholarship, I am sure he isn’t a two-star. I would also assume that he is about to get a lot more recruiting attention as well.

I am not completely sure why 247Sports has Jacobsen ranked that low. From what I can see, this kid looks good on the football field. He has solid speed and can get to the ball carrier quickly. He has solid size at 6-foot-1, 210-pounds. I would love for him to come to Illinois and play the nickel position for the Orange and Blue. This is where I think he would thrive.

Illini continues Texas tear with Sawyer Goram-Welch offer. dark. Next

Illinois was the first power five conference program to offer Jacobsen, but they won’t be the last. This kid has talent and other teams will follow suit. Hopefully, the Illini can snag him and continue to build the defense.
