The Illinois football team had some big recruits visit this past weekend and during that visit, the Illini extended some scholarship offers.

One offer was to Kevo Wesley. He posted via Twitter on Saturday that he had received a scholarship offer from The University of Illinois. The Illini have wanted to win the state of Illinois when it comes to recruiting, and snagging a player like Wesley would go a long way in accomplishing this goal.

Wesley is a 6-foot-5, 260-pound offensive tackle from Curie Metropolitan High School in Chicago, Illinois. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 558 player in the class of 2020 and the No. 30 offensive tackle in the nation. He is also the No. 9 player in the state of Illinois as well.

Illinois seems to be the favorite to land Wesley as of right now. Judging by his tweets, he seems to be really enjoying the visits to Champaign and has mentioned he plans on returning as well. But, there are quite a few scholarship offers out there for him.

The list of interested teams continues to grow. In addition to the Illini offer, Wesley has an offer from teams like Washington State, Syracuse and Iowa. These are some solid programs, so it will be a fight for the Illini to snag this talented offensive lineman.

Wesley’s size says he is more likely to play guard at the college level. Although, Illinois is more up-tempo then they used to be, so an extremely athletic tackle might be a good thing as well. Either way, Illinois needs more offensive line help. We don’t have a ton of depth moving forward, and we are going to lose Richie Petitbon after this season.

Getting more offensive linemen in the door is one of the priorities for the future. Illinois needs some talented big men up front, and Wesley would fit that bill. He would be a huge addition to this team.
