The pass-catching targets continued to build on Friday as the Illinois football team offered another scholarship.
Tyler Morris announced on Twitter that he had received a scholarship from the University of Illinois. This offer is big for many reasons, one includes the fact he is an in-state recruit. Winning the state of Illinois would be great for this coaching staff and the future of the team.
Morris is a 6-foot, 165-pound wide receiver from Nazareth Academy in La Grange Park, Illinois. He isn’t ranked or rated by the recruiting sites because he is from the class of 2022, but the fact he has so many big-time offers means this kid is going to be ranked pretty high.
While the Illini were the most recent offer to Morris, they weren’t the first. In addition to the Illinois offer, he has also received offers from teams like Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. This list will continue to grow as the class of 2022 starts getting closer. This is a great start for this young playmaker, though.

Illinois’ offense is gearing more towards a run-heavy style. They want players who can make plays in open space. That is what I believe Morris brings to the table. He has the speed to be extremely dangerous at multiple positions. Illinois could put him in the slot and have him run short-to-intermediate routes. They could have him run jet sweeps. They could put him in motion and cause headaches for the opposing teams.
The type of game Morris brings to the table reminds me of Tyreek Hill for the Kansas City Chiefs. If you allow him to get into space and don’t be careful, he is going to go for a touchdown. Morris has the speed and ability to really make a difference for the Illini.
Illini finish out solid coaching staff for 2019. dark. Next
It is way too early to tell what Morris is going to do. He is going to get scholarship offers from all of the big-time programs in the next couple of years. I just hope he remembers that Illinois was one of the first programs to really take notice.
