The St. Louis area has been really good to the Illinois football team over the past couple recruiting classes.

There have been a handful of talented players come out of this area who have committed to play for Lovie Smith and the Illini. Illinois is trying to continue their hot streak with the St. Louis area by offering a scholarship to Itayvion Brown.

Brown is a 6-foot-3, 210-pound wide receiver from Lutheran North High School in St. Louis, Missouri. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 448 player in the class of 2020 and the No. 37 athlete in the nation. He is also the No. 6 player in the state of Missouri as well.

The head coach of Lutheran North, Carl Reed, announced on Twitter that the University of Illinois had offered Brown the scholarship. This high school program has been a focus for the Illini coaching staff with multiple visits down there. Tight ends coach Cory Patterson is also the main recruiter for Brown. He has a huge presence down in St. Louis as well.

I don’t even know where to start with what Brown brings to the football field. This kid is built like a linebacker, has the speed of a wide receiver and can catch the ball like a tight end. When the recruiting rankings say he is classified as an “athlete” that is right on point. This kid can do anything and everything on the field.

247Sports does have him playing wide receiver in college, and I think that is where Illinois would need him the most. We already have a great St. Louis quarterback arriving this year in Isaiah Williams, now let’s get him a big-time wide receiver. I envision a lot of corner-of-the-end-zone throws from Williams to Brown for touchdowns.

I absolutely love this offer by Illinois. They need to continue owning the St. Louis area. Snagging a pass catcher like Brown would help the offense tremendously. This would be a big one for the Orange and Blue.
