2. Offensive Line

The Illinois offensive line is starting to get old and we need to make sure we have enough depth to replace the players who will be departing in a year or two. I have some serious concerns about depth right now actually.

Illinois has 11 scholarship offensive linemen on the roster right now. I have the starters, likely, being Doug Kramer at center, Richie Petitbon at tackle, Vederian Lowe at tackle, Alex Palczewski at guard and Kendrick Green at guard. There isn’t a lot of depth behind these five linemen, though.

Kievan Myers and Jordan Slaughter should be able to step in this season and be solid backup linemen. I have Jake Stover as the backup center. Other than those three, I don’t know how much I trust the backups for the Illini.

Illinois had two players transfer a couple weeks ago, which will hurt the team. They have also missed out on a few offensive linemen for the class of 2019 as well. So, we need to add another to this class.

As far as a potential commitment from the class of 2019, I can’t find an offensive lineman who Illinois is close to landing. Hopefully, I am going to be surprised and we land a solid offensive lineman with one of our remaining scholarship offers.
