No. 2 Guard

Starter: Trent Frazier

The most electric player on the Illinois basketball team is Trent Frazier. This kid has moves and a shot that most basketball players only wish they had.

Frazier is currently averaging 14.9 points, 3.2 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game this season. He has hit a bit of a rough stretch the last three games, though. He has only put up 9, 11 and 6 points in each of those contests. Frazier is a playmaker, though, so I am not too worried about him. He will enter next season as the No. 2 guard for the Illini.

Backup: Da’Monte Williams

Behind Frazier at the No. 2 spot is Da’Monte Williams. I know there is some scoring loss here, but Williams has done some good things for the Illini this season in the defense department.

Williams has averaged 4.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game this season. He isn’t a great shooter, but he has started to get to the basket more often. I like his aggression and playmaking abilities. I see him being a solid backup to Frazier next year.

Backup: Alan Griffin

The “3rd string” to Frazier is going to be Alan Griffin. I really liked Griffin coming from the class of 2018. He is a New York recruit who has a lot of ability.

Through about a third of the season, Griffin’s ability hasn’t been on display yet. He is only averaging 3 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. I look for him to continue to develop as a shooter for this Illini program.
