Illinois Basketball: 5 observations from the Illini loss to Indiana

The Illinois basketball team once again fell to their opponent but this time it was against the Indiana Hoosiers on the road.

Illinois now moves to 4-10 on the season and 0-3 in Big Ten play. They went into the game against the Hoosiers hoping to come away with a win. For a while, the Illini were giving hope to the fanbase, though.

The Illini started the game hot. Just about halfway through the first half, Da’Monte Williams hit a three-pointer to increase the lead to 23-13. The Hoosiers fought back but Illinois still had an eight-point lead with 5:31 to go in the first half, 27-19. Indiana would then go on a 13-5 run to tie the game up heading into the halftime locker room.

Indiana took control of the game to start the second half and never looked back. They got the margin up to eight points until Ayo Dosunmu scored to bring the score back to 40-34 in favor of the Hoosiers. Indiana would increase the lead from there. They got the deficit up to 15 points with 8:33 left in the game. Despite being down by 15 points, Illinois would fight back to get the margin down to four points with 2:36 left in the game. The Hoosiers fended off the Illini and won the game 73-65.
