Illinois Basketball: 5 observations from the Illini win over ETSU
5. Aaron Jordan is having a quietly good year
I know I am going to get some guff for saying this, especially since he is coming off a less than stellar game, but Aaron Jordan is having a quietly good year for the Illini.
Yes, I realize that Jordan only had six points on 2-of-13 shooting from the field and 1-of-6 from the three-point arc against East Tennessee State. That isn’t good, but despite his bad shooting, Jordan manages to find other ways to help the team.
In the game against the Buccaneers, Jordan also pulled down 10 rebounds, dished out four assists and had a steal as well. We haven’t been able to see what type of player Jordan could be because of the previous regime. But, this kid is actually pretty good.
Jordan is now averaging 10 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game this season. That is a bump in all of those categories from the previous year. He is having his best year with the Orange and Blue by far.
I really like what Jordan brings to the table. Even when he is not hitting shots, he is doing the other things to help the Illinois basketball team win games. This kid is Illinois through and through and I appreciate everything he has done for this program.
