The class of 2020 isn’t that far away and that means the Illinois basketball team will ramp up their offers to recruits.

There have already been a decent amount of scholarships handed out to recruits for 2020. These players would help the program build back into a national contender once again. Illinois addressed their big man issue in the class of 2019 with the addition of Antwan January, so the class of 2020 needs to have some shooters. Brad Underwood and the Illini coaching staff addressed that issue on Wednesday with an offer to Luke Kasubke.

Kasubke is a 6-foot-6, 175-pound shooting guard from Chaminade College Prep School in St. Louis, Missouri. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 200 player in the class of 2020 and the No. 53 shooting guard in the nation. He is also the No. 4 player in the state of Missouri.

There have been some serious offers come in for Kasubke. He already has 12 scholarship offers and some of the top teams besides for Illinois include Kansas State, Xavier and Creighton. Honestly, looking back at history, a recruit that is rated 200 or lower doesn’t usually have this much recruiting attention. I am thinking that ranking is too low. This kid should probably be around the top 100 judging by the offers he has already.

When I watch Kasubke play basketball, I try to think of a comparison but it is difficult. He has good size at 6-foot-6, but he has the ability to pass the ball like a 6-foot-1 point guard. His vision on the court is underrated. His shot is great too. He can score from anywhere on the court and that includes driving to the hoop.

I believe Kasubke is the complete package. He is one of those kids that Wisconsin swoops in and snags and ends up becoming like a Frank Kaminsky or an Ethan Happ. Don’t let the ranking fool you, this kid is a top 100 recruit no doubt about it.

The comparison I have for Kasubke is Luka Doncic. He has the ability to do everything on the court and his passing is underrated. That is the type of player Kasubke could be for the Illini. This is a great offer by Underwood. Hopefully, we can get in this recruitment.
