Illinois Football: Illini target Isaiah Hookfin focusing on decision
I will be curious to see who the Illinois football team ends up landing for the class of 2019.
There are still so many possibilities left. I believe Lovie Smith and the rest of the Illini coaching staff will build this class into one of the best we have seen in the last decade. To get to that point, though, some of these big fish will have to land. One of those big fish is Isaiah Hookfin.
Hookfin is a 6-foot-5, 270-pound offensive tackle from Dulles High School in Sugar Land, Texas. He is rated as a four-star recruit who is the No. 231 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 23 offensive tackle in the nation. He is also the No. 27 player in the state of Texas as well.
The recruitment of Hookfin is really down to four programs. He took an official visit to Illinois back on October 13. He then proceeded to take an official visit to Baylor on December 1, Minnesota on December 8 and Texas will be on December 15. It looks like he is now shutting down his recruitment as a decision day looms.
Hookfin took to Twitter on Monday night and revealed that he would not be taking any more questions or replying to any messages about his college decision until he makes his final decision. That decision will be coming between December 16 and 18, according to the post.
I would assume the decision date being between those dates means Hookfin is going to sign during the early signing period that starts on December 19. His decision is going to make one of those four teams extremely happy.
I really hope the Illini can land Hookfin. They have put in so much work on this kid and they could really use him for the future. Just imagine how great that offensive line would be next season and the seasons to follow. The only player we are losing on the offensive line is Nick Allegretti. Everyone else is back. You then can add Hookfin to the mix. The Big Ten better watch out.
This is a big one for the Illini. If they can land Hookfin, it would help bolster that offensive line to new heights.
