With the Illinois basketball season right around the corner, what do fans think of this team and their chances of dancing come March?

It is going to be an interesting season in year two of the Brad Underwood era. He is settling into his role as the leader of this Illinois basketball team, and they were able to get in some solid recruits this year to go along with the great class from last season.

Some of the old faces are returning for this Illini team. No one should underestimate the power of Trent Frazier. This kid can ball out and is willing to do whatever it takes on the floor to get a win. His ability to shoot the three and still get to the bucket is legendary.

Kipper Nichols, Da’Monte Williams and Aaron Jordan should all be able to put up some serious point this season as well. These three return for another season of Illinois basketball and are ready to finally go dancing. Let’s take a look at the new additions who will help this team.

Ayo Dosunmu is coming in as a top 30 player in the class of 2018. He looked good in the scrimmage and should be a huge part of the winning ways for this Illini bunch. Tevian Jones, Alan Griffin and Giorgi Bezhanishvili will all be big parts of this team as well. All three of these players will be needed, sometimes to start and sometimes to come off the bench.

This Illini team has given me confidence for the upcoming season, and the Illinois fan base has that confidence as well. In a short poll taken on the Writing Illini Twitter page, 34-percent of Illini fans think the team will make the NCAA tournament but will be on the bubble.

There is also a contingency of fans who think this team won’t be on the bubble and will miss the NCAA tournament altogether. That number is at 29-percent. I just don’t see Illinois not competing this year. They are a tough team who will at least be on the bubble.

The next highest result was the Illini will be on the bubble but will miss the NCAA tournament. That number comes in a 26-percent. And, finally, 11-percent think the Illini will get in the NCAA tournament and not have to sweat the bubble. That would be really nice.

All we know right now is the Illinois basketball team starts their 2018-2019 campaign this Thursday. I am glad basketball is starting so we can get two Illini sports going on my television. This is a great time of year.
