The Illinois basketball team needs to land at least two players for the class of 2019 in the next 30 days.
Here are some of the big targets and when they will be making a commitment.
Anthony Walker
Decision: October 20
Time: TBD
Walker is a 6-foot-8, 200-pound power forward from Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. He is a four-star recruit who is the No. 76 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 17 power forward in the nation.
The decision for Walker is coming down to Boston College, Miami, Pittsburgh and Illinois. I would give Pittsburgh the lean here, but I think Illinois has a shot because of their style.
Oscar Tshiebwe
Decision: October 20
Time: 11:30 AM CT
Tshiebwe is a 6-foot-9, 250-pound center from Kennedy Catholic High School in Hermitage, Pennsylvania. He is rated as a five-star recruit who is the No. 19 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 5 center in the nation.
The decision for Tshiebwe is down to just West Virginia, Kentucky, Baylor and Illinois. I think West Virginia has a slight lead. Kentucky is probably second right now. The Illini have to pull off a miracle here.
Drew Timme
Decision: November 14
Time: 8:00 AM CT
Timme is a 6-foot-10, 235-pound center from Pearce High School in Richardson, Texas. He is rated as a four-star recruit who is the No. 41 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 11 center in the nation.
The decision for Timme is coming down to five programs. He will be choosing from Alabama, Gonzaga, Texas A&M, Arizona and Illinois. This is a tough recruitment to predict. Honestly, I think Illinois is probably in the lead right now. Arizona gets the final visit, though, and that scares me.
Quincy Guerrier
Decision: October 31
Time: 8:00 PM CT – ish (halftime of the Knicks vs Pacers game)
Guerrier is a 6-foot-7, 190-pound small forward from Thetford Academy in Quebec City, Quebec. He is rated as a four-star recruit who is the No. 48 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 13 small forward in the nation.
Three teams are vying for Guerrier’s commitment. He is down to just Oregon, Syracuse and Illinois. I think the Illini have a solid lead right now after getting his final visit. Hopefully, he picks the right Orange and Blue.
Terrence Shannon
Decision: TBD (postponed according to his mother)
Time: TBD
Shannon is a 6-foot-6, 185-pound small forward from Lincoln Park High School in Chicago, Illinois. He is rated as a four-star recruit who is the No. 81 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 23 small forward in the nation.
All five of Shannon’s official visits are done and he was set to make a commitment recently but decided to push it back. No one really knows where he will end up. I would assume Illinois is still in the mix but at this point, I am not sure.
