The Illinois basketball team needs to land a player for the class of 2019 relatively soon.

A player that has kept the Illini in the discussions during his recruitment is Drew Timme. He continues to narrow the scope of his recruitment and more details about his commitment have been finalized.

It was announced a few days ago that Timme is taking an official visit to Illinois this upcoming weekend on October 19. He will then take an official visit to Arizona sometime over the few weeks following his trip to Champaign. It looks like we now know a commitment date as well.

Back on October 9, the Pearce High School basketball Twitter account tweeted out that Timme will be making his commitment on Wednesday, November 14. This also happens to be the first day for the early signing period, so whoever lands this kid will get pen to paper that day. Timme will be announcing his decision at 8:00 AM CT. This information was really never publicized because the Twitter account only has 34 followers. But, Timme retweeted the information out yesterday to confirm the validity.

The team who lands Timme is getting a great player with a skillset that gives opposing teams headaches. There is a reason so many teams were after him. He is a 6-foot-10, 235-pound center who can post up on the block but can also step back and shoot the deep ball. He has everything you want in a player, and that is why he is a four-star recruit who is the No. 41 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 11 center in the nation. He is elite.

Illini fans just think about the roster we could have for 2019 if Timme signs up. Ayo Dosunmu is a five-star recruit. Trent Frazier, Tevian Jones and Timme are all four-star recruits. Da’Monte Williams was a high four-star recruit but injuries dropped him. He is finally healthy and ready to return to form. Illinois will also have a solid supporting cast as well with Andres Feliz and Company returning.

A commitment from Timme would be huge for the Illinois basketball program. They need a big man, and he would fit perfectly with what the Illini want to do. Let’s make it happen.
