The Illinois football team moved a step closer to landing another big recruit for the class of 2019 over the weekend.
Dylan Hall decided to make a cut to the schools he is looking at and ended up with six programs. He kept Washington State, Utah, Arizona State, Oregon State, Boise State and Illinois all alive for his commitment. This is another big west coast product the Illini are close to landing.
Hall is a 6-foot-5.5, 230-pound strong-side defensive end from Antelope Valley High School in Lancaster, California. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 1193 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 74 strong-side defensive end in the nation.
So far, Hall has only been on one official visit and that was back on September 8 when he went up to Boise State. He still has four official visits left and, hopefully, one of them is to Champaign.
Illinois has done a great job snagging under-the-radar talent over the past few classes. Some of this talent has the framework to be really good but just needs the appropriate training and facilities to bring out the best football player. I think this is what is going on with Hall.
Hall currently plays defensive end. I believe he is extremely raw at the position. He has the framework to be a great defensive end, though. He is just a little small, weight wise, to be a defensive end in college right now. But, the proper training, like at Illinois, would help him build up the muscle to be a force in the Big Ten.
I love Hall’s speed and ability to get around the edge. This kid can be a nightmare to offensive tackles. He is quicker and will be strong than most of the offensive tackles he goes up against a few years into his career. I can’t wait to see what Hall becomes at the next level.
Illinois, once again, is evaluating on potential here. I think Hall’s potential is through the roof. Hardy Nickerson has done a great job recruiting the west coast and this is just another great find.
