The Illinois football team also decided to offer a scholarship on Thursday night to a player who has been waiting on it for a while now.

Dominic Moore took to Twitter to announce that he has received an offer from the Illini. This was a big offer considering in the tweet he mentions the offer is from his dream school.

Moore is a 6-foot-7, 285-pound strong-side defensive end from Perspectives Charter High School in Chicago, Illinois. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 1327 player in the class of 2109 and the No. 81 strong-side defensive end in the nation. He is also the No. 26 player in the state of Illinois.

The offer by the Illini came just about a month after Moore took an unofficial visit to Champaign. I feel like Illinois has been eyeing this kid for a while now and they are now in the mix to land him for the future.

There is a lot I like about Moore’s game as well. Let’s first start off with his size. He stands at 6-foot-7 and weighs 285-pounds. He has the frame to be a good defensive end. Illinois wants to build the lines up and Moore would help accomplish this goal.

It looks like Moore has the talent to play both sides of the ball, so this gives Lovie Smith and the coaching staff some flexibility on where to play him. I see that offensive line coach Luke Butkus is the main recruiter for Moore. This could mean he is eyeing him for the offensive side of the ball. If that is the case, I think Moore would help build depth on the offensive line. He would be a solid offensive tackle for this program.

I think Moore is a pretty raw player right now. He uses his strength and size to get his way on the field at the high school level. That won’t work all the time in college. Getting into a program that Lovie and Company have built will do wonders for this kid. He has the framework to be good and the Illinois coaching staff has the plans for him to be great. There is a bright future ahead for Moore.
