Big news dropped on Wednesday night as the Illinois basketball team moved one step closer to landing their first member of the class of 2019.

Quincy Guerrier took to Twitter to announce his top three teams he will be focusing on moving forward. In a great edit by TiptonEdits, Guerrier decided to cut his list down to just Syracuse, Oregon and Illinois. This top three was expected, but getting confirmation last night was a big deal for Illini fans.

Guerrier is a 6-foot-7, 190-pound small forward from Thetford Academy in Quebec City, Quebec. He is rated as a four-star recruit who is the No. 48 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 13 small forward in the nation. He is actually the best player to come out of Quebec in 2019 as well.

In a recent post, breaking down the main options remaining for the Illini in 2019, I have Guerrier as the third most-likely recruit to commit to Illinois. The percentage breakdown of where I think here will go right now was Syracuse 45-percent, Illinois 38-percent and Oregon 17-percent.

I actually believe Illinois might be sneaking into the lead after the news of them making the top three on Wednesday night. I thought there were going to be more official visits coming for Guerrier, but it looks like he is going to stop at just three.

Guerrier started his visits of with a trip to Oregon back on September 6. He then went down to Syracuse a few weeks ago on September 21. Illinois will now get his final visit this weekend starting on Friday, October 5. The fact the Illini will be his final official visit is huge for the program. He is only looking at three teams and Illinois is going to be the freshest in his mind.

Honestly, I think the Illini might actually land Guerrier. I feel like they are in the lead for his commitment right now. This weekend is massive for this program. Guerrier would start the class of 2019 off for the Illini with a bang.
