There are still quite a few targets available for the Illinois basketball team when it comes to the class of 2019.

The main recruits in the news headlines over the last few weeks have been EJ Liddell, Terrence Shannon and Oscar Tshiebwe. But, one player that hasn’t been talked about much is Quincy Guerrier.

Guerrier is a 6-foot-7, 190-pound small forward from Thetford Academy in Quebec City, Quebec. He is rated as a four-star recruit who is the No. 48 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 13 small forward in the nation. Illinois has been involved with Guerrier’s recruit for a while now.

The decision for Guerrier has come down to, essentially, three programs. He took an official visit to Oregon back on September 6. The next visit was to Syracuse on September 21. The final visit is now to Illinois on October 5.

Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog is reporting that after the visit to Champaign, Guerrier will take a week or two and then make a decision. This is huge news for all three programs and, more importantly, Illinois. The Illini need players to sign up for 2019 and Guerrier would be a perfect fit.

Right now, 247Spoorts has Oregon as the leader for Guerrier at 60-percent. The other 40-percent is going to Syracuse. Illinois isn’t predicted to snag this talented athlete. But, it is recruiting, and everything is fluid. You never know what could happen during the Illinois visit. The Illini coaching staff has made the top three for Guerrier and now it is time to close the deal.

Heading into 2019, Illinois is in the need for more size. They have some pieces at the No. 4 spot, but I think Guerrier would fit nicely as a player who could work the ball on the outside but also get into the lane and score at the hoop. I love his game, and he would fit perfectly with what Brad Underwood wants to do.

EJ Liddell and Brea Beal would take Illini to next level. dark. Next

Guerrier is a good player. Do I think the Illini land him? Most likely, no. But, they are clearly in the running for this kid and have a chance at landing a top 50 player. Let’s see how things go on his visit next weekend.
