It looks like the Illinois football team could be in line for another big-time recruit from the class of 2019.

On Wednesday, Jakai Clark took to Twitter to announce that he has received an offer from the Illini. This wasn’t the only big news he came out with yesterday, though. He also announced his upcoming visit schedule as well.

Clark will be visiting Louisville this weekend on an unofficial visit. He will then head to Arkansas State on October 12 for an official visit. Virginia is next on October 27 for an unofficial visit. Finally, he has Illinois on his list on November 3 for a possible official visit. He also mentions a commitment date is coming soon.

The fact Illinois is in the talks about possibly landing Clark or at least getting a visit is exciting. This kid is pretty talented. He is a 6-foot-3, 305-pound center from Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 1388 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 11 center in the nation.

Over the past year, Clark’s recruitment really picked up steam. He started receiving scholarship offers from big-time programs. He was even offered a scholarship to Auburn and committed there on April 10. That commitment lasted only a few months, though. On September 3, Clark opened his recruitment back up and is now looking at all of his options.

Right now, Doug Kramer is Illinois’ center and moving forward that looks to be the case. But, he is a sophomore right now and when Clark would come in, he would be a junior. This would give Clark a chance to redshirt year one and then, potentially, be a backup to Kramer as a redshirt freshman when Kramer is a senior. Clark could then move into the starting role as a redshirt sophomore and be a three-year starter for a winning Illini program.

I love that the Illini are in the running for a solid offensive lineman. You can’t have too many big men up front. I think Clark would be a great fit for this Illinois football team.
